Workshops

Workshops and specialist lessons

A different workshop every day of the week, run by specialist teachers. Families choose which ones.

Workshops are short, enjoyable sessions built into the daily programme. The point is not to steer a child into a speciality early. It is to let them try several different things. You only find out what a child warms to after they have tried it.

Specialist lessons are not covered by the monthly fee and carry a separate charge. You decide which workshops your child joins. Call us for current rates.

Our workshops

English

Through songs and games, with nothing learned by heart. The aim at this age is an ear for the language, not conversation.

Orff music

Rhythm and percussion. The guitars and instruments in our music corner are within reach all day.

Drama

Role play and acting out stories. This is often the workshop where a shy child opens up most.

Gymnastics

Balance, coordination and movement, using the wall bars and mats in our covered area.

Ceramics and clay

Shaping, drying, firing. Work that asks for patience and ends in something you can hold.

Visual arts

Paint, scissors, collage. What matters is not that it looks good but what the child is telling us.

Chess

First moves, learning the pieces, taking turns.

Garden and nature

Planting, watering, waiting for it to grow, harvesting.

Yoga

Breathing and stretching. A quiet break in the middle of a busy day.

Cooking workshop

Small chefs at work. Children eat what they have made themselves more readily.

Thinking games

Puzzles, patterns and strategy games.

Library hour

Choosing a book, listening on a lap, learning to turn the pages.

Does my child have to join every workshop?

No. Families choose which workshops their child joins.

Who runs the workshops?

Specialist teachers, with the class teacher alongside them.

What if my child does not enjoy one?

We do not push. If a child is not warming to a workshop we talk with the family and change it.

Come and see the school

Choosing a preschool online is hard. You need to walk in, feel the place and hear the children.
