Fidan · ages 2-3

Fidan group: first parting, first friendship

Two and three years old. The year of doing things yourself and knowing someone is always there.

Fidan is the group where most children leave home regularly for the first time. At this age, learning has one precondition: feeling safe. Until a child feels safe they neither join the play nor try anything new. So the first job of the year is not lessons. It is attachment.

Settling in, step by step

The first days are short. The hours grow as the child settles. For some children that takes a week, for others a month. We do not tell families "it passes in three days", because when it does not, everyone feels they have failed.

What this year is about

Doing it yourself

Taking off shoes, washing hands, carrying your plate to the table. It is slow, so we go slowly too.

Toilet training

School and home together. No pressure, no calendar, only the moment the child is ready.

Touch and the senses

Water, sand, dough, fabric, natural materials. At this age learning comes in through the fingertips.

Sleep and rest

There is a rest hour in the middle of the day. Those who sleep, sleep; those who do not rest quietly with a book.

What is in the classroom

  • A soft-floored play area and a ball pit
  • Home and shop corners
  • A book corner and a quiet cushioned space
  • Open shelves, with toys the child can reach alone
  • Direct access to the garden

We keep the Fidan group deliberately small. Call us to ask about places.

Come and see the school

Choosing a preschool online is hard. You need to walk in, feel the place and hear the children.
